K. Annamalai Welcomes DVAC Action Against Former DMK Minister E.V. Velu

Former BJP Tamil Nadu president K. Annamalai has welcomed the TVK government's decision to direct the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) to register an FIR and conduct raids against former DMK minister E.V. Velu. The state's action in Chennai follows allegations of irregularities concerning road contracts that were awarded in 2022.
Reacting to the development, Annamalai stated in a post on the social media platform X that he hopes the current government will ensure a speedy investigation into the matter. He added that the authorities must work to bring those found guilty in the contract case to book.
In addition to the road contract probe, the former BJP state chief urged the TVK government to launch wider inquiries into a series of other alleged scams that surfaced during the previous DMK regime. Annamalai highlighted several specific departments and public procurement programs that he claims require immediate official scrutiny.
Among the cases raised by Annamalai is the controversial BGR Energy contract, along with alleged irregularities in the procurement of nutrition kits and Pongal dhotis. He also called for detailed probes into the state transport department and the pesticide procurement practices under the Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation (TNMSC). Furthermore, he urged the government to look into the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme during the DMK tenure.
Annamalai also pressed the TVK government to investigate what he termed a "long-pending mystery" involving Udhayanidhi Stalin's fan club and a company named Noble Steels. According to Annamalai, both entities allegedly operated from the same address. He called for an inquiry into Noble Steels' subsequent announcement of a Rs 1,000-crore investment in Tamil Nadu, which was made following a visit to Dubai by former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
