IIT-Madras and IIT-Kanpur Launch Joint Bachelor of Cybersecurity Programme

The Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-Madras) has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (IIT-Kanpur) to launch a new four-year Bachelor of Cybersecurity (B.Cyber) programme. Scheduled to commence from the upcoming academic year, this joint educational initiative is designed to address the critical and growing demand for highly skilled cybersecurity professionals across the nation.

By introducing this specialized undergraduate course, the two premier technology institutes aim to play a significant role in strengthening India's digital infrastructure. The programme is also expected to bolster the country's overall cyber defence capabilities by training a new generation of experts equipped to handle modern digital threats.

According to the program details, admissions to the B.Cyber course are being conducted jointly by IIT-Madras and IIT-Kanpur. The curriculum has been structured to offer a balanced blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical training, ensuring that students gain both the conceptual understanding and the technical skills required in the professional landscape.

The academic framework of the four-year programme is designed to prepare students for a wide range of specialized career paths. Graduates will be trained to enter key sectors such as cyber defence, security operations, and penetration testing. Additionally, the coursework covers critical domains including digital forensics, malware analysis, and cloud security, which are vital components of modern digital safety.

Beyond preparing students for immediate employment in the technology and security sectors, the B.Cyber programme also serves a broader academic purpose. It is designed to provide a robust foundation for those who wish to pursue higher studies, advanced academic degrees, and specialized research in cybersecurity and its closely related fields.
