Hyundai Donates 300 Road Safety Barricades To Greater Chennai Traffic Police

The Greater Chennai Traffic Police received a significant boost to its traffic management efforts on Monday, July 06, 2026, when the Hyundai Motor India Foundation donated 300 road safety barricades at Rajarathinam Stadium in Chennai. The contribution is aimed at strengthening the city's road safety infrastructure and promoting safer roads for daily commuters.
The safety barricades provided by the foundation include three distinct varieties to assist police officers in their daily duties. The donation comprised 200 iron barricades, 50 steel barricades, and 50 foldable barricades. These will be deployed across the city to manage traffic flow and enhance safety.
The equipment was formally handed over during a ceremony at Rajarathinam Stadium. C.S. Gopalakrishnan, who serves as a Trustee for the Hyundai Motor India Foundation as well as the Whole-time Director and Chief Manufacturing Officer of Hyundai Motor India Limited, presented the barricades. Greater Chennai Police Commissioner A. Amalraj officially received the donation on behalf of the department.
Several key officials attended the handover event, including Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) B. Shamoondeswari, who was present alongside other senior officers from the Greater Chennai Traffic Police.
According to an official release, the primary goal of this donation is to improve the city's existing road safety infrastructure. By providing these 300 new barricades, the Hyundai Motor India Foundation and the Greater Chennai Traffic Police aim to create a safer environment for commuters and enhance active traffic management throughout the metropolitan area.
