Hitachi signs Rs 1,000 crore MoU to expand Porur and Chengalpattu facilities

Hitachi Energy India Ltd and Hitachi Energy Technology Services Pvt Ltd signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday to invest Rs 1,000 crore to expand their facilities in Porur and Chengalpattu. The investment, which will be carried out over the next three to five years, is expected to create approximately 1,000 high-end, highly skilled technology jobs in the region.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was officially signed in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay at the state secretariat.

According to the agreement, the capital will be utilized to expand the Hitachi Group's Global Technology and Innovation Centre located in Porur, Chennai. Additionally, the investment will scale up the manufacturing operations at the Hitachi Energy India facility in Chengalpattu.

The expansion projects are expected to generate employment opportunities for around 1,000 highly skilled technology professionals over the next three to five years. Both of the entities undertaking these projects are subsidiaries of the Hitachi Group, a Global Fortune 500 company.

Several key government officials and corporate leaders attended the signing ceremony on Tuesday. Representing the Tamil Nadu government alongside the Chief Minister were Industries Minister S Keerthana, Chief Secretary M Sai Kumar, Industries Secretary S Vijayakumar, and Guidance TN Managing Director and CEO Deepak Jacob.

Representing the company at the secretariat were Hitachi India Managing Director Venu Nuguri and Hitachi India Chief Growth Officer Karthik Krishnamoorthy.
