History-Sheeter Hacked to Death in Kodungaiyur, Seven Detained

A 21-year-old history-sheeter was hacked to death by a gang inside his house in Ezhil Nagar, Kodungaiyur on Friday night. The victim's girlfriend sustained minor injuries while trying to intervene in the attack, which took place around 9:00 PM. Following the incident, the Kodungaiyur police detained seven suspects, including four juveniles, for questioning.
The deceased has been identified by the police as Bangaru Arun, a resident of Ezhil Nagar in the Kodungaiyur area of Chennai. According to police records, Arun was a history-sheeter who had 11 criminal cases pending against him at the time of his death.
The attack occurred when a gang of more than six men arrived at Arun's residence riding on four motorcycles. The men forced their way inside the house and repeatedly hacked Arun with sickles. Arun's girlfriend, who was present inside the house during the confrontation, attempted to stop the assault but sustained minor injuries in the process. The assailants fled the scene immediately after the attack.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Kodungaiyur police rushed to the spot. Officers immediately shifted both Arun and his injured girlfriend to the Stanley Government Hospital. However, doctors at the hospital declared Arun dead on arrival.
A preliminary investigation conducted by the police revealed that the murder was linked to previous gang enmity. Investigators suspect that Satishkumar, a rival who is currently lodged in the Central Prison in Puzhal in connection with another case, masterminded the attack. Police believe Satishkumar instructed his associates to target and eliminate Arun in retaliation for past disputes.
The Kodungaiyur police are continuing their investigation into the case. They have detained seven suspects, including four juveniles, who are currently being questioned to ascertain their involvement in the murder.
