Guduvanchery Police Arrest Man in Manipur Over Tamil Nadu Express Murder Case

The Guduvanchery police arrested a 22-year-old man in Manipur on Saturday in connection with the murder of 38-year-old Hayathun Nisha, whose decomposed remains were found stuffed inside a trolley bag aboard the Chennai-New Delhi Tamil Nadu Express at Agra earlier this month.

The accused has been identified as M Manik Uddin Laskar, a resident of Dakshin Krishnapur, Sonabarighat, in the Cachar district of Assam. He was apprehended at Kashimpur in Manipur's Jiribam district by the Guduvanchery police team with assistance from local police.

Following the arrest, authorities initiated procedures to bring Laskar to Tambaram after obtaining a transit warrant.

The victim, Nisha, was a native of Odisha who lived in Guduvanchery and worked at a private firm. The murder came to light after railway officials at the Agra station discovered the trolley bag containing her decomposed body parts on the train.

As part of the ongoing investigation, police searched a rented house in Guduvanchery last week, where they recovered additional body parts believed to belong to Nisha. Further investigation into the case is under way.
