Free Wi-Fi Restored at 32 Spots Across Marina and Besant Nagar Beaches

The Greater Chennai Corporation has restored free public Wi-Fi services at 32 locations along Marina Beach and Besant Nagar Beach in Chennai. The restoration is part of the State government's initiative to expand digital services and improve public access to technology in prominent public spaces.

Under this drive, the civic body restored Wi-Fi connections at 27 locations situated between the Labour Statue and the Lighthouse along Marina Beach. An additional five Wi-Fi spots were made functional at Besant Nagar Beach, allowing visitors at both popular waterfront locations to browse the internet free of cost.

To connect to the service, users must turn on Wi-Fi on their mobile phones, select the available network, and scan the displayed QR code. The Wi-Fi connection is activated once the user inputs the One-Time Password (OTP) received on their registered mobile number.

The initiative follows earlier efforts by the Greater Chennai Corporation to set up high-quality free Wi-Fi at major public gathering areas, such as beaches, parks, and playgrounds.

Moving forward, the Corporation is actively working to repair remaining non-functional Wi-Fi facilities and establish new internet infrastructure across other beaches, parks, sports grounds, and high-footfall locations throughout the city.
