Four More Juveniles Who Escaped Chengalpattu Special Home Detained

Police on Sunday detained four more juveniles who escaped from the government special home in Chengalpattu on Friday night, bringing the total number of inmates secured so far to five.
According to a senior police officer, three of the four juveniles were traced and caught in Puducherry, while the fourth was detained in Villupuram. A search operation remains underway to track down the remaining six boys.
A total of 11 children in conflict with the law had escaped from the Chengalpattu facility on Friday night. One of them was caught near a railway track later that night. The escape marks the third such incident to take place at the facility this year.
Sources stated that the children involved in the escape are aged between 14 and 18 and are facing various criminal cases, including attempt to murder.
The breakout took place after a planned clash between two groups of inmates inside the home fell through. The planned confrontation failed to materialise after a home guard walked into the dormitory to call the children for dinner.
Following the disruption of their plan, the children allegedly used a ladder and tied bedsheets to scale the facility's compound wall near D Block, as the main gate was locked.
