Forest Dept Steps Up Operation to Capture Tiger After Two Deaths in Nilgiris

The Tamil Nadu Forest Department has intensified operations to track and capture a suspected man-eating tiger following the deaths of two people in the Nilgiris district this month.

To locate the animal across the forested terrain, personnel have deployed three thermal drones, set up six cages at strategic locations, and installed 50 camera traps.

More than 80 forest personnel, divided into two specialised teams, have been deployed for continuous monitoring and combing operations in forest-fringe areas affected by the tiger's presence.

Gudalur Forest Officer Devaraj on Sunday advised local residents to exercise extreme caution. Officials have urged the public to avoid venturing outdoors late at night or in the early morning hours until the tiger is captured.
