Farmers' Association Welcomes Aavin Milk Procurement Price Hike to Rs 39 Per Litre

The Tamil Nadu Farmers' Association has expressed gratitude over the decision to hike the milk procurement price paid by the state government's Aavin from Rs 35 to Rs 39 per litre, along with an additional incentive of Rs 5 per litre.

Namakkal Velusamy, State president of the Tamil Nadu Farmers' Association, stated that the previous rates offered by Aavin to milk producers were not remunerative. The organisation, founded by the late farmer-leader Narayanasamy Naidu, highlighted that dairy farmers had been facing difficulties due to rising production expenses.

According to the association, the cost of milk production had gone up significantly in recent times. In response to the mounting financial pressures, various farmers' associations alongside the milk producers' welfare association had repeatedly urged the government to implement a price revision as outlined in its election manifesto.

Under the announced revision, milk producers supplying to Aavin will now receive Rs 39 per litre, an increase from the earlier rate of Rs 35 per litre, in addition to the Rs 5 incentive. The association noted that the revised procurement prices would address long-standing demands from the farming community across the state.
