Erode Student Wins Rs 3.35 Crore Scholarship to Brown University

Pranav Ilango, a teenager hailing from Erode, Tamil Nadu, has won a scholarship worth Rs 3.35 crore to pursue higher education at Brown University. The scholarship will allow him to study Applied Mathematics and Public Health at the Ivy League institution during the 2026-30 academic years.
The financial aid is set to fully cover all of Ilango's academic and living expenses, which would have otherwise been out of reach for his family. He is scheduled to commence his studies at the university in late August.
Ilango was one of the best performing students at the CS Academy School in Erode, where he opted for the international-based IGCSE Cambridge curriculum. Earlier in his academic career, he bagged the "World Topper" title in IGCSE Mathematics, an achievement that earned him recognition and an induction into the "Outstanding Cambridge Learners" cohort.
According to Ilango, choosing the Cambridge syllabus was a major turning point in his life. He stated that the curriculum showed him the pathway and led him to focus on attaining an opportunity to study abroad by the end of higher secondary school.
