EPS Urges Tamil Nadu Government to Grant Rs 30,000 per Acre for Rain Crop Losses

EPS Urges Tamil Nadu Government to Grant Rs 30,000 per Acre for Rain Crop Losses

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Sunday urged the Tamil Nadu government to depute officials to assess the extent of crop loss incurred by farmers due to recent rains in the Cauvery delta region and immediately announce relief.

Pointing to reports from the ground, the former Chief Minister noted that standing crops spread across roughly 2,000 acres have suffered heavy damage following downpours in Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, and neighbouring districts across the delta belt. He stated that the unseasonal damage has directly impacted the livelihoods of farmers in these districts.

Mr. Palaniswami urged the State government to send teams of officials from the Revenue and Agriculture Departments to inspect the rain-affected areas. He called for a thorough field assessment of the crop damage so that compensation can be processed and disbursed without delay.

The AIADMK leader also demanded that the government sanction a financial compensation of ₹30,000 per acre to help the affected farmers recover from their losses.
