Edappadi K Palaniswami Rallies AIADMK Cadre at Chennai Party Headquarters

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Saturday addressed a party review meeting at the AIADMK party headquarters in Chennai, urging party functionaries to focus on upcoming elections and downplaying the impact of recent defections. Palaniswami emphasized that the party relies on its loyal cadre rather than individual leaders who choose to switch loyalties for power.

The review meeting was convened at the Chennai headquarters to assess the party’s recent electoral performance. The session saw participation from key party functionaries representing Karur, the Nilgiris, and Virudhunagar districts.

During his address, Palaniswami described the AIADMK as a political movement built firmly on the trust of its loyal cadre. He urged partymen to "teach betrayers a lesson" and stated that the party was not concerned about individuals who chose to leave.

Specifically, Palaniswami noted that the exit of former ministers, including M R Vijayabhaskar, would have little impact on the party’s future prospects. He reassured the gathered leaders and workers that the organization remains strong despite these departures.

"The party is bigger than any individual," Palaniswami told the functionaries. He asked the members to set aside their personal differences and work unitedly towards securing victories in the upcoming Karur bypoll as well as the rural local body elections.

According to functionaries who attended the meeting, Palaniswami also pointed out that those who had recently left the AIADMK no longer enjoyed the same level of prominence in their new political parties as they did when they were with the AIADMK.

Karur district secretary Kamalakkannan shared similar views following the meeting. He compared the current defections to past departures, noting that the party had successfully weathered similar situations before.

"Just as the exit of Senthilbalaji and others did not affect the party, those who have now betrayed us will also make no difference because the loyal AIADMK cadre remain with us," Kamalakkannan said.

In addition to the discussions surrounding Karur, party functionaries from Virudhunagar district were also given specific instructions during the session. Palaniswami and senior leaders directed them to focus their organizational efforts on the upcoming local body polls.
