DVAC Seizes ₹14.5 Lakh in Raid at Gerugambakkam Panchayat Office Near Porur

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) seized ₹14.5 lakh in unaccounted cash during a surprise raid at the Gerugambakkam Panchayat office near Porur on Tuesday. The raid was conducted following specific information regarding a bribe being paid to obtain layout approval.
A team led by DVAC Deputy Superintendent of Police Immanuel Gnanasekaran carried out the surprise inspection at the local panchayat office. During the search, officials recovered and seized the ₹14.5 lakh in unaccounted cash for further investigation.
Following the recovery, investigators questioned Panchayat president Jagadeeswari Sundaresan regarding the source of the money. DVAC officials stated that the agency had received a specific tip-off regarding the payment of illegal gratification to secure layout approval.
DVAC officials are continuing their inquiry to establish whether the seized funds were linked to bribery. Authorities added that further legal action will be determined by the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
