DVAC Registers Cash-For-Jobs FIR Against Former TN Minister KN Nehru

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against former Tamil Nadu municipal administration and water supply minister KN Nehru in connection with a cash-for-jobs scam. The announcement was made before the Madras High Court in Chennai on Friday.
The disclosure came during a session of the first division bench, which consists of Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G Arul Murugan. The bench is currently presiding over a contempt petition filed against the DVAC for failing to register the case in a timely manner.
AIADMK Rajya Sabha member IS Inbadurai initiated the contempt proceedings against officials of the DVAC. Inbadurai’s petition alleged that the anti-corruption agency had failed to comply with the high court's prior directives to register the FIR against the former minister.
Advocate General Vijay Narayan informed the division bench on Friday that the DVAC registered the FIR after obtaining his official legal opinion. He noted that the high court had previously issued a directive on February 20, 2026, ordering the DVAC to register the FIR without any delay.
Alongside the contempt petition, the high court bench is also hearing a review petition. This review petition was filed by KN Nehru in his personal capacity.
