DVAC Detects ₹31.52 Lakh in Suspicious G-Pay Deals at Guindy Office

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) conducted joint surprise checks at 38 government offices across Tamil Nadu on Thursday, uncovering unaccounted cash and suspicious digital transactions totaling approximately ₹1.18 crore. Among the prominent findings, the office of the Chief Electrical Inspector to Government in Guindy recorded suspicious G-Pay transactions amounting to ₹31.52 lakh.

Statewide, vigilance sleuths seized ₹28,24,945 in unaccounted physical cash during the coordinated inspections. In addition to the cash seizures, the agency detected suspicious online transactions worth ₹89,89,663 taking place across the audited government facilities.

In Guindy, officials inspected the Chief Electrical Inspector to Government office as part of the simultaneous multi-department operation. The inspection led to the detection of ₹31.52 lakh transferred through suspicious digital payment transactions on the G-Pay platform.

The surprise checks covered a broad spectrum of government administrative centres and public service facilities across the State. The locations included Sub-Registrar Offices, Block Development Offices (BDO), Regional Transport Office (RTO) check posts, municipal offices, Taluk offices, and electricity offices, along with several other government departments.

Significant irregularities were also recorded in other parts of the State during the drive. At the Tennur EB Office in Trichy, DVAC teams uncovered ₹1 lakh in unaccounted cash and detected ₹13.58 lakh in suspicious G-Pay transactions.

In Ariyalur, a search at the Tahsildar Office revealed ₹19,000 in unaccounted cash alongside ₹7.24 lakh in suspicious G-Pay transactions. Meanwhile, a check at the Kallakurichi BDO office resulted in the discovery of ₹15,100 in unaccounted cash and ₹6.69 lakh in suspicious digital transactions.

In total, the DVAC's joint operation across the 38 government offices brought to light ₹1.18 crore in unaccounted funds and illicit digital money trails.
