DMK Leader TKS Elangovan Backs Rahul Gandhi Over TVK Vijay for PM Post

DMK leader T K S Elangovan on Monday backed the Congress party's position projecting Rahul Gandhi as its prime ministerial candidate, questioning the rationale behind Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam positioning its leader Vijay for the country's top post.

Speaking to PTI Videos in Chennai, Elangovan endorsed remarks made by Congress leader Rajesh Kumar regarding the choice of prime ministerial candidate. He noted that the Congress remains a major political party with extensive experience governing the nation.

"Congress is a major political party in the country and has ruled the nation for years. How can TVK want to project Vijay as the Prime Ministerial candidate? What the Congress leadership says is right," Elangovan said.

Elangovan also aligned with Congress MP Manickam Tagore's dismissal of a recent prime ministerial opinion poll, which Tagore had labelled fake. The DMK spokesperson concurred with the assessment, calling it a manipulated opinion poll that did not accurately capture viewpoints from across all states.

Additionally, Elangovan touched on the demand by milk producers to increase the procurement price to Rs 44 per litre due to rising input costs, expressing concern over the resulting financial burden on consumers.
