DMK Demands FIR Against Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay Over Horse Trading Allegations

On Monday, DMK organization secretary R S Bharathi submitted supplementary complaints to Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) in Chennai, demanding the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay over allegations of horse-trading and enticing MLAs.
The fresh submissions follow detailed complaints previously filed by the DMK leader on July 1 and July 4. In his latest representation, Bharathi alleged that recent political developments directly corroborate and reinforce his earlier complaints, pointing to a systematic practice of horse-trading by the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and coercion through the misuse of state police machinery.
To support his allegations, Bharathi cited a public admission made by former AIADMK Minister M.R. Vijayabhaskar during a press meet on July 2. According to the complaint, Vijayabhaskar publicly stated that the ruling TVK had approached him and that he would be joining the party following his resignation. Bharathi argued that this statement serves as clear evidence of inducement by the ruling party to win over opposition leaders.
In his letter to Governor Arlekar, the DMK leader detailed these occurrences as proof of systematic political enticement. He requested the Director of the DVAC to take the supplementary complaint on file alongside the initial July 1 complaint, urging the agency to investigate the ruling party's actions.
Bharathi urged the anti-corruption agency to take note of the fresh evidence and materials placed on record, insisting that an FIR be formally registered against Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay to investigate the matter thoroughly. The filing of these supplementary complaints marks an escalation in the political conflict, with the opposition formally demanding a corruption and horse-trading investigation against the head of the state government.
