Death of 37-Year-Old at TVK Rally in Salem Sparks Political Backlash

The death of a 37-year-old man at a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) rally in Salem has triggered political debate and sharp criticism over crowd safety arrangements at political gatherings.

The deceased, who was a heart patient, reportedly collapsed after experiencing chest pain during the rally led by the party.

Following the incident, rival political outfits raised concerns regarding the safety measures put in place for attendees. Both the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) questioned the party's event arrangements and management of the crowd.

The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) also reacted to the incident, raising concerns about potential fatalities occurring at large gatherings in the run-up to elections.

In response to the criticism, TVK stated that the party had previously advised individuals who were unwell against attending the public event.
