Dayanidhi Maran Accuses Congress of Shifting Stand on Delimitation

DMK MP and former Union minister Dayanidhi Maran on Monday accused the Congress party of shifting its political stance from advocating "fair delimitation" to demanding "no delimitation" in Tamil Nadu. Speaking in Chennai, Maran questioned the party's political consistency on the national issue and criticized its silence in states where it holds power.

Posting a message on social media, the DMK leader asked why Congress has not convened similar meetings of Members of Parliament in the four states currently governed by the party. He directly questioned whether Congress would challenge Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who has openly supported the delimitation process.

Maran highlighted earlier statements by Revanth Reddy, noting that the Telangana Chief Minister had publicly stated his state stands to gain increased political representation through delimitation, with both state Assembly and Lok Sabha seats expected to increase substantially. Maran questioned how Congress could support this outcome in Telangana while simultaneously championing a "no delimitation" stance in Tamil Nadu.

Alleging broader political maneuvering, Maran claimed Congress instigated the TVK government to stage an MPs' meeting in Tamil Nadu as a political spectacle against delimitation. He questioned if Congress had shifted its policy to demand no delimitation exclusively in Tamil Nadu while maintaining different positions across the rest of the country.

Maran stated that a party unable to articulate a clear and consistent position on delimitation has no moral authority to preach to Tamil Nadu, characterizing Congress's actions as petty politics. He concluded that the people of Tamil Nadu would not be taken in by what he described as theatrics from a "reels-driven party" acting as a proxy government for Congress.
