Couple killed after motorcycle collides with private factory bus near Orikkai

A husband and wife were killed on Monday after their motorcycle collided head-on with a speeding private factory bus near Orikkai in Kancheepuram district. Following the fatal collision, the driver of the private factory bus was detained by the Kancheepuram police.

The deceased have been identified as 32-year-old Annamalai and his 26-year-old wife, A Sonia. The couple were natives of Nesal village in the Pudupattu area of Tiruvannamalai district. At the time of the incident, the husband and wife were residing in Oragadam, where Annamalai was employed as a driver.

According to the police, the couple had two young children, an eight-year-old daughter named A Divya Sri and a five-year-old son named A Sai Vasanth. Before the accident took place, the parents had left their two children with relatives. They were travelling on their motorcycle to their native village in Tiruvannamalai district when the crash occurred.

The accident happened when the couple was travelling via Orikkai on their motorcycle. A private factory bus, which was allegedly coming at a high speed from the Sevilimedu side, collided head-on with their two-wheeler.

The impact of the collision was highly severe. Sonia sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot. Annamalai, who was critically injured in the crash, was rushed to the Kancheepuram Government Hospital for emergency medical treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Following the fatal accident, the Kancheepuram police detained the private factory bus driver. An investigation into the collision is currently underway to determine the circumstances of the crash.
