Couple Arrested in Tamil Nadu Express Murder Case Brought to Tambaram

A couple accused of murdering a woman whose headless, dismembered body was discovered inside a trolley bag aboard the Tamil Nadu Express was brought to Chennai from Guwahati on Sunday night. The suspects were taken directly to the Tambaram City Police Commissioner’s office as investigators proceed with the probe.

The accused have been identified as 22-year-old Manik Uddin Laskar, a native of Assam, and his wife, Bhagabati Maji. Special teams formed by the Tambaram City Police tracked down and arrested the two suspects in Manipur and Assam.

Following their arrests, the duo was produced before local courts and transferred to Chennai on transit warrants. Escorted by police security, they arrived on a flight from Guwahati at the Chennai airport around 9 pm before being transported to Tambaram for questioning.

The case originally surfaced on August 5 when passengers on the Tamil Nadu Express noticed a strong, foul smell coming from an unattended trolley bag in an unreserved coach after the train reached Agra. Railway police inspected and opened the bag, discovering the headless, dismembered body of a woman inside.
