Couple Arrested in Manipur for Murder of Guduvanchery Woman Found in Suitcase

The Guduvanchery police have arrested a 22-year-old man and his wife from Manipur in connection with the murder of a 38-year-old woman whose dismembered body was discovered inside a suitcase at Agra railway station.

The victim, identified as Ayuthan Nisha (38), originally from Odisha, lived in Guduvanchery near Chennai. According to police, the accused Manick Uddin Laskar (22) had an extramarital relationship with her, which led to the crime after Nisha became pregnant and demanded marriage.

Police said Nisha had married Jaguar Khan of Chennai 20 years ago and had a 19-year-old son, Yousuf Khan. When Nisha developed a relationship with Laskar, her son objected and moved out to live separately. Nisha subsequently began living in a separate house near Laskar in Guduvanchery.

Laskar's wife, Bhagapati Majhi, was aware of the relationship and frequently received money and jewellery from Nisha. Nisha often visited the couple's house and was introduced to the property owner as Laskar's elder sister, an explanation accepted by neighbours due to their age difference.

Investigators revealed that after Nisha became pregnant and asked Laskar to marry her, Laskar and Majhi decided to kill her. On July 3, the couple went to Nisha's residence armed with large knives. After waiting until she fell asleep, they sprinkled anaesthetic on her face and severed her neck.

The couple then shaved Nisha's head, peeled her skin, and cut the body into several pieces. They packed the remains with flour inside a suitcase and took it to Chennai Central railway station. The couple boarded the Tamil Nadu Express with the suitcase, abandoned it in an unreserved compartment at Agra railway station, and fled to Manipur.

On August 5, the suitcase containing the chopped body was found at Agra railway station. As the train originated from Chennai Central, Tamil Nadu police were alerted. Investigators analysed CCTV footage at Chennai Central to identify the couple, and a team from the Guduvanchery police travelled to Manipur to arrest them. The suspects were brought back to Tamil Nadu on Sunday.
