CM Vijay Urges Youth to Make Sports and Fitness Part of Daily Routine

Chennai: Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Saturday called on the younger generation to make sports and physical exercise an integral part of their daily lives, highlighting the role of athletic activity in building personal character and well-being.
In his National Sports Day message shared on the social media platform X, Vijay stated that engaging in sports is not merely about winning medals. He noted that athletic pursuits serve as an excellent platform for cultivating discipline, perseverance, self-confidence, leadership qualities, and team spirit among individuals.
Emphasising the broader importance of personal health, the Chief Minister said that physical fitness remains essential for leading a healthy, joyful, and fulfilling life. He stressed that youth must actively embrace regular exercise and sports routines as part of everyday living.
On the occasion, Vijay extended his best wishes to all sportspersons and encouraged athletes representing Tamil Nadu to aim high on the national and global stage.
"On this day, I wish that sportspersons from Tamil Nadu showcase their talents brilliantly in international and national-level competitions, accumulate victories, and make India's tricolor fly even higher. Let us grow in sports. Let us shine in victory," he said.
National Sports Day is celebrated annually on August 29 across the country to mark the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, the legendary captain of the Indian hockey team.
