On Tuesday, Chief Minister Vijay launched the 'Nalam TN' digital health portal and dedicated new medical buildings and equipment worth Rs 139.47 crore to the public during a ceremony at the Presidency College premises in Chennai. State Health Minister K G Arunraj, who attended the programme, described the launch as a watershed moment for the healthcare sector in Tamil Nadu. He urged the newly appointed doctors and health inspectors to provide treatment combined with love and compassion to maintain the trust of the poor and simple people who visit government hospitals.

As part of the social responsibility initiative, representatives from various organisations handed over financial assistance for government medical colleges directly to the Chief Minister during the function.

In addition to launching the digital platform, Chief Minister Vijay distributed appointment orders to 2,144 healthcare personnel. The newly recruited staff includes 751 doctors and 1,393 health inspectors who were selected through the Medical Services Recruitment Board.

During the distribution, the Chief Minister personally presented an appointment order to Prashanthi, who was selected under the differently-abled category, and offered his congratulations.

The event commenced with the singing of the Tamil Thai Vazhthu and concluded with the rendition of the national anthem. This sequence of songs departed from recent practices that had generated controversies in the state.
