CM Vijay Congratulates Praggnanandhaa on Historic Grand Chess Tour Victory

Chennai: Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay congratulated Indian chess grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa on Friday for scripting history by becoming the first Indian to win the Grand Chess Tour title.

In a message shared on social media, the Chief Minister praised the young chess player's performance, highlighting his exceptional skill and dedication on the global stage.

Praggnanandhaa secured his maiden Grand Chess Tour title following a dramatic comeback in St Louis. In the final, he defeated American player Fabiano Caruana with a final score of 15-13 to lift the championship trophy.

Commending the achievement, Vijay noted that Praggnanandhaa competed against the world's best chess players with notable mental fortitude and strategic brilliance. He described the championship victory as a fitting recognition of the player's extraordinary talent and unwavering perseverance.

The Chief Minister further stated that the historic victory brings immense pride to both Tamil Nadu and India, while serving as a source of fresh hope and inspiration for youngsters across the country.
