CM Joseph Vijay Visits Farmer's House in Chinnakavoor, Opens Mettur Dam Gates

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay visited Salem district on Tuesday, combining official administrative duties with direct public engagement in the Cauvery delta region. During the visit to Mettur, the Chief Minister made an unscripted stop at the residence of delta farmer P Ramasamy in Chinnakavoor village near Mettur.

During his stop at the farmer's home, the Chief Minister interacted with Ramasamy and his family members, inquiring about their agricultural activities, current crop status, and local water requirements. He expressed solidarity with the farming community and gifted his sunglasses to an elderly woman in Mettur.

Earlier in the visit, Chief Minister Vijay officially opened the sluice gates of the Stanley Reservoir at Mettur Dam. The water release is designated to support irrigation across Cauvery delta districts for the 2026-27 Samba cultivation season as well as fulfill local drinking water needs.

Water Resources Minister N Anand and senior government officials accompanied the Chief Minister throughout the tour in Salem district. Large crowds of local villagers gathered along the route to greet the delegation during the visit focused on agricultural welfare and regional irrigation support.
