CM Joseph Vijay Inaugurates Renovated Perambur MLA Office and E-Sevai Maiyyam

Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay inaugurated the renovated Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) office and a new common service centre in the Perambur constituency on Monday. The inauguration was accompanied by a high-level review meeting to finalise several key civic infrastructure projects for the local neighbourhood.

The newly renovated MLA office now houses an E-Sevai maiyyam, a common service centre dedicated to receiving petitions from local residents. Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) Commissioner G.S. Sameeran confirmed that the facility has been set up to streamline public grievances and will employ two people to manage the petition-receiving desk.

Following the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Vijay held a meeting with GCC and other government officials to discuss developmental works in the constituency. The Chief Minister also conducted field visits within Perambur, inspecting a local Public Distribution System (PDS) shop and a Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) electric vehicle charging depot.

The infrastructure plans follow a series of demands raised by local residents of the Perambur constituency. In response, the GCC identified several crucial projects spanning multiple sectors, including housing, healthcare, sports infrastructure, urban space development, education, water, sanitation, and power infrastructure.

Specific upgrades planned for Perambur include the construction of a mini stadium, sports turfs, food courts, pedestrian plazas, and a lake front development project. The plans also focus on educational and healthcare improvements, featuring the establishment of smart schools, upgraded hospitals, dialysis centres, and new housing projects dedicated to low-income groups.

These civic infrastructure projects are likely to be finalised based on the discussions held during the Chief Minister’s meeting with officials on Monday.

Preparations for the high-profile visit began days in advance. GCC officials conducted a detailed inspection of various neighbourhoods in the constituency a few days ago. On Sunday, local police asked residents to temporarily remove cars parked on several interior roads of the constituency to facilitate the passage of the Chief Minister’s convoy.
