CM Joseph Vijay Directs Aid For Tamil Nadu Tourists After Vietnam Boat Accident

CHENNAI — Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Saturday directed state government officials to coordinate with the Indian embassy in Vietnam and the Ministry of External Affairs to provide rescue, medical assistance, and other support to Tamils affected by a tourist boat accident near Hon May Rut Ngoai island in Vietnam.

The accident occurred on Saturday morning when a tourist boat met with an accident near the island. The incident resulted in multiple casualties and injuries among Indian tourists, including those from Tamil Nadu and other states.

In a post on the social media platform X, Chief Minister Vijay expressed his deep grief over the tragedy. He stated that he was deeply saddened to learn that Indian tourists, including those from Tamil Nadu and other states, were among those killed after the tourist boat met with the accident.

To manage the emergency response, Chief Minister Vijay instructed state government officials to coordinate with the Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi, the Ministry of External Affairs, and senior officials of the Indian embassy in Vietnam. This coordination is aimed at obtaining the details of the affected Tamils and extending all necessary assistance to them.

The Chief Minister also said that state officials have been instructed to work alongside the Indian embassy to ensure that those who were injured in the accident receive the required medical treatment.

Furthermore, directions have been issued to facilitate the early repatriation of the bodies of those who died in the boat accident through the Indian embassy. Chief Minister Vijay conveyed his condolences to the families and relatives of the individuals who lost their lives in the tragedy.
