CM C Joseph Vijay Urges Chennai and Tamil Nadu Public to Complete Online Census

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has issued a call to the residents of Chennai and the wider state to actively participate in the online self-enumeration phase of the upcoming Digital Census. The self-enumeration period, which officially commenced on Friday, is scheduled to run from July 17 to July 31, ahead of the subsequent door-to-door survey.

In a public message shared on social media, Chief Minister Vijay revealed that he has already completed his own registration for the census. He highlighted that the exercise is a critical step for the state, as the gathered data will serve as the primary foundation for planning and executing future developmental and welfare programmes across Tamil Nadu.

According to the Chief Minister, the digital census is not merely a routine enumeration process. Instead, it is a vital tool that will shape the state's future. He explained that the detailed information provided by citizens will directly influence how developmental programmes are designed and targeted. Because the ultimate goal of the census is to facilitate public welfare, Chief Minister Vijay emphasized that the project must be successfully completed with full public cooperation.

As the online phase gets underway, the Chief Minister requested that all families in Tamil Nadu provide true and accurate details about their households. Addressing potential concerns over data security, he assured the public that all submitted details will be kept strictly confidential by the government authorities.

The self-enumeration phase offers citizens the opportunity to fill out their household details online at their convenience. This digital window will remain open to the public until July 31. Once the self-enumeration phase concludes, official enumerators will begin conducting the door-to-door survey to ensure comprehensive coverage.
