CM C Joseph Vijay reviews 436 projects in first Tamil Nadu cabinet meeting

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay chaired his government’s first cabinet meeting at the Secretariat in Chennai on Friday, initiating the review of 436 developmental projects and welfare schemes. The review focused on key poll promises made by the TVK ahead of the assembly elections.

The meeting commenced at 10:00 AM and lasted for one hour. Beyond the project reviews, the cabinet discussions centered on the Governor’s forthcoming address to the Assembly and various measures aimed at streamlining governance across all state departments.

Following the conclusion of the meeting, Electricity Minister R Nirmalkumar briefed reporters on the cabinet's decisions. Nirmalkumar stated that projects and schemes relating to individual departments were assigned to their respective ministers for further action.

According to Nirmalkumar, 436 projects and schemes, including the party’s poll promises, were discussed in the cabinet meeting, and each minister was given projects and schemes concerning their respective departments.

The minister further explained that the discussions focused heavily on achieving a corruption-free and drug-free Tamil Nadu. The cabinet also addressed ways to meet the aspirations of the state's youngsters and women.

Within the industries department, the cabinet discussed 37 specific projects. These projects were assigned to the ministry to be taken forward. Chief Minister Vijay instructed the ministers to hold discussions with officials of their concerned departments and prepare detailed reports to ensure the targets are achieved.

During the briefing, Nirmalkumar was also asked about Karnataka’s proposed Mekedatu project. He responded that the Tamil Nadu government would take all legal actions to thwart the project.
