CM C Joseph Vijay Announces Rs 134.83 Crore Package for Tamil Nadu Paddy Farmers

Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay announced a special package of Rs 134.83 crore on Friday to encourage Kuruvai cultivation, aiming to boost paddy production across Tamil Nadu.
The initiative, announced in Chennai, is designed to support paddy growers in both the delta and non-delta districts of the state during this year's cultivation season.
According to an official statement by the Chief Minister, Tamil Nadu cultivates paddy on an average of 52.72 lakh hectares annually. This total includes 20.65 lakh hectares of cultivation in the delta region and 32.07 lakh hectares in the non-delta districts. Of this total area, the Kuruvai season cultivation accounts for 5.14 lakh hectares.
The special financial and agricultural package was introduced following a significant decline in Southwest monsoon rainfall, which has impacted the water levels in the Mettur reservoir.
The Rs 134.83 crore package is intended to provide critical support to benefit paddy farmers as they navigate these water challenges during the Kuruvai cultivation season.
