CISF Seizes 3 Live Bullets and Magazine from Passenger at Chennai Airport

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel recovered three live rounds and a magazine from the hand baggage of a woman passenger during security screening at Terminal 1 of Chennai airport on Saturday.

The passenger was scheduled to travel with her family to Kochi on IndiGo flight 6E-5394, which was scheduled to depart from the airport at 8 am.

The detection occurred during the routine pre-embarkation screening process for domestic passengers. Security personnel operating the baggage scanner noticed a suspicious image inside the woman's hand luggage and flagged the bag for a detailed physical inspection.

Upon conducting the physical check of the bag, CISF security personnel discovered three live rounds of ammunition along with a magazine concealed inside.

Following the discovery, CISF personnel questioned the passenger regarding the ammunition and asked her to produce valid documents, licences, or official authorisation permitting her to carry the items. The woman was unable to produce any valid documentation or authorisation to explain the possession of the ammunition.

Because the passenger failed to present the mandatory legal permits, CISF personnel detained her and handed her over to the local police, along with the seized live rounds and the magazine.

The local police took the woman into custody along with the recovered items and have initiated further investigation into the incident.
