Chennai Suburban Trains Cancelled on June 5 Between Kodambakkam and St Thomas Mount

Southern Railway has announced changes to late-night suburban EMU services in Chennai on June 5 due to scheduled engineering work. The maintenance operations will take place on the railway line between the Kodambakkam and St Thomas Mount stations.

To facilitate the engineering work, Southern Railway will implement a line block and a power block. This block is scheduled to start at 11:05 PM on June 5 and will remain in place until 3:05 AM on June 6. The four-hour maintenance window will result in the cancellation and partial cancellation of several late-night train services, disrupting travel for suburban commuters.

Among the affected services, the Chennai Beach to Tambaram EMU local trains scheduled to leave Chennai Beach at 11:40 PM and 11:59 PM on June 5 have been fully cancelled. Commuters who normally take these late-night trains will need to find alternative travel arrangements.

Furthermore, the engineering work will cause partial cancellations for other services on the network. Specifically, two late-night suburban train services running from Guduvancheri and Chengalpet to Chennai Beach will be partially cancelled.

These changes are expected to disrupt travel for late-night commuters who rely on the suburban railway network to travel between Chennai Beach, Kodambakkam, St Thomas Mount, Tambaram, Guduvancheri, and Chengalpet.

Southern Railway has announced these service changes ahead of time so that passengers can plan their travel accordingly. The line block and power block are necessary to complete the engineering work between the Kodambakkam and St Thomas Mount stations. Normal suburban train services are expected to resume after the block is lifted at 3:05 AM on June 6.

With the cancellation of the Chennai Beach to Tambaram services departing at 11:40 PM and 11:59 PM, and the partial cancellations of the Guduvancheri and Chengalpet services, passengers are advised to check the revised schedules before starting their journeys on the night of June 5.
