Chennai Police Conduct Anti-Drug Drives Across 62 Auto Stands Including Anna Nagar

Chennai police organised anti-drug awareness programmes at 62 auto-rickshaw stands across the city on Wednesday, engaging drivers and local residents in areas including Anna Nagar, Koyambedu, and Kolathur.

More than 2,000 auto-rickshaw drivers and members of the public took part in the initiative. The drive was conducted as part of the Chennai police department's campaign to educate the public, youth, and students on the critical health hazards and broader social consequences of drug abuse.

The awareness sessions were held across six police districts, covering Anna Nagar, Koyambedu, Kolathur, Flower Bazaar, Washermanpet, and Pulianthope. Sub-inspectors led the proceedings at the individual auto-rickshaw stands, speaking directly to the gathered drivers and commuters.

During the sessions, police officers highlighted the serious risks associated with illicit drug consumption, focusing on its negative effects on physical health and family well-being. The personnel also called for active community cooperation to assist law enforcement in curbing drug abuse and building a drug-free city.

The participants expressed their support for the initiative and took a formal oath promising to work towards preventing drug abuse within their communities.
