Chennai Couple Marks 25 Years of School Book Donations in Tiruvannamalai

An octogenarian couple from Chennai has marked the completion of their silver jubilee of educational service by donating supporting study materials to primary school students across Tiruvannamalai district. N. Subramanian and his wife travelled from Chennai to hand over the learning aids up to Class V to children at several government institutions on June 29, 2026.
During their visit, the elderly couple personally travelled to multiple locations to distribute the materials. They visited government schools in Kalpoondi near Arani, Pelasur village, Kuruvimalai village, and Polur town. Despite their advanced age, the couple took the time to meet the students and headmasters directly at each location.
The distribution events were attended by A. Muniraj, the Chief Educational Officer (CEO) of Tiruvannamalai, who supported the couple's initiative. According to an official press release, this latest donation drive marks 25 years of continuous book-donation service by the Chennai couple to government-run schools.
Mr. Subramanian, who is originally a native of Vannakkambadi village in Ranipet district, has built a long-standing relationship with regional schools. Over the past two and a half decades, he has made it a practice to donate around 20 books to government schools in Tiruvannamalai, alongside providing similar educational support to two schools in his native Ranipet district.
During the distribution tour, school headmasters expressed their gratitude to the couple for their sustained support. The administrators shared feedback on the long-term impact of the couple's efforts, noting that the books previously donated for pre-school children had immensely helped the students in their early development and learning.
The couple's silver jubilee milestone highlights their enduring commitment to improving educational resources for young students in Tamil Nadu's government schools.
