Chennai Airport Placed Under Tight Security Ahead of Amit Shah Visit

Chennai airport was placed under a heavy security cordon on Wednesday ahead of the arrival of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is visiting the city to attend a conference of South Indian Chief Ministers at Kovalam near East Coast Road.

More security personnel and police units have been deployed across the airport premises to ensure security for the arrival of the Home Minister and several visiting Chief Ministers. Airport authorities convened a coordination meeting with Central intelligence officials, Tamil Nadu police, CISF personnel, and teams handling VIP security to finalise the arrangements.

According to the official schedule, the Home Minister will land at Chennai airport at 7:40 pm on Wednesday, where he will be received by officials. He will then travel by road to Kovalam and stay overnight at Fisherman Cove.

To ensure safe transit, police personnel are being deployed along the entire road corridor from Meenambakkam to Kovalam on Wednesday and Thursday.

On Thursday, Amit Shah will preside over the conference of South Indian Chief Ministers. Following the meeting, he will return to Chennai airport and depart on a flight to Delhi at 3:45 pm.
