Chandrababu Naidu Proposes Bullet Train Corridor Linking Chennai, Bengaluru, Amaravati

Mahabalipuram: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu proposed the development of an integrated high-speed bullet train corridor connecting Amaravati, Bengaluru, and Chennai via Kuppam during the Southern Zonal Council meeting.
Speaking at the regional forum, Naidu emphasized the economic potential of the region and stated that collective initiatives among the southern states are essential for the area to serve as a driving force in building a Viksit Bharat (Developed India). He noted that resolving long-pending interstate and regional issues requires mutual trust and close cooperation between state administrations and the central government.
Addressing regional water management, Naidu called on Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu to work in close coordination on river-water sharing. He pointed out that over 500 TMC (thousand million cubic feet) of water could be diverted through the Godavari–Cauvery river-linking project, which would offer a permanent solution to Tamil Nadu's recurring water shortages.
To advance water security, he proposed formulating a long-term national roadmap for the broader Ganga–Cauvery river link. He also stressed the importance of preparing time-bound Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) to ensure swift regulatory clearances for major river-linking initiatives.
Beyond rail and water infrastructure, the Chief Minister outlined several interstate initiatives, including the establishment of an interstate spiritual tourism circuit linking Tirupati with northern pilgrimage destinations such as Kashi, Ayodhya, and the Char Dham.
Naidu also advocated for a regional consortium combining universities and skill development institutes across the southern states to enhance workforce readiness. Additionally, he urged the Centre to expedite approvals for the Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada metro rail projects and resolve pending issues related to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
