CAMS and IIT Madras Renew Fintech Partnership with New MoU

Computer Age Management Services (CAMS) and the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) have officially renewed and expanded their ongoing collaboration through the CAMS-IIT-M FinTech Innovation Lab (CIFIL). The two institutions signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the IIT-M campus on Wednesday to mark the next phase of their partnership, which was originally established in 2022 as part of CAMS' Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The renewed alliance seeks to promote fintech innovation, industry-driven research, startup development, and professional education. Under the expanded framework, CIFIL will direct its focus toward several emerging technological areas within the financial domain, including artificial intelligence in financial services, digital payments, blockchain and tokenization, cybersecurity, RegulatoryTech, WealthTech, InsurTech, digital lending, data analytics, and financial inclusion.
In addition to advancing these key areas, the lab is set to broaden its overall research portfolio. It will work on developing intellectual property, facilitating technology transfer, and supporting the commercialisation of research-led solutions designed for the financial sector.
The partnership also aims to provide direct academic and practical benefits to students at IIT-M. Students will gain opportunities to participate in industry-linked research projects, take up internships, enter hackathons, and receive support through dedicated startup mentoring programmes.
Speaking on the initiative, CAMS Managing Director Anuj Kumar said the renewed partnership would create a crucial intersection between industry expertise and academic exploration. He noted that this collaboration will enable innovative ideas to be developed into practical solutions for the financial services ecosystem.
IIT-M Director V. Kamakoti expressed a similar sentiment regarding the agreement, stating that the collaboration will combine the institute's advanced research capabilities with CAMS' extensive industry expertise. He emphasized that this joint effort aims to accelerate the development of cutting-edge fintech solutions for India's financial ecosystem.
