CAG Launches Climate Action Month With Upcoming Nature Walk At Adyar Eco Park

The Citizen consumer and civic Action Group (CAG) has launched the fifth edition of Climate Action Month in Chennai, featuring a series of public events including an upcoming evening nature walk at the Adyar Eco Park in Adyar. The month-long programme aims to bring together local communities, environmental experts, artists, students, policymakers, and practitioners to address pressing ecological challenges.
This year's campaign focuses on several key environmental themes that affect the urban landscape. These themes include the environmental impact of short-life electronic accessories, ocean science, green employment opportunities, solid waste management, and climate action. Organisers have planned a diverse range of activities to engage the public, such as art performances, interactive workshops, community-led initiatives, guided nature walks, panel discussions, and expert talks.
According to CAG researcher Ramalingam Karunanidhi, several public programmes are scheduled for the upcoming weekends. For this weekend, a wetland walk is scheduled to take place at Pallikaranai. Additionally, on Sunday, a music programme will be held at Pondy Bazaar. This music event, organised in association with the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), will integrate awareness messages on waste management and climate change.
The following weekend, the campaign will host an evening nature walk at the Adyar Eco Park. This specific event is being organised in association with the Tamil Nadu Wetlands Mission. Alongside the nature walk, students from Loyola College will perform "parai aattam," a traditional folk dance, to raise climate awareness among attendees.
Through these various public events, technical sessions, and cultural performances—including puppet shows, Parai dance, and panel discussions—the organisers seek to foster community-led climate action and raise awareness. All events associated with the fifth edition of Climate Action Month will be held at different locations across Chennai to encourage widespread participation in environmental advocacy.
