C P Radhakrishnan Addresses 22nd SRMIST Convocation in Chennai

Graduating students were urged to uphold constitutional values, respect diversity, and strengthen national unity at the 22nd convocation of the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) held in Chennai on Sunday.

Addressing the graduating batch, C P Radhakrishnan called on students to place the larger national interest above narrow self-interest. He emphasised that academic research and technological advancements must be directed toward the broader welfare of the public.

"Research achieves its highest purpose when it serves society. Let your knowledge and innovation create solutions that improve lives and contribute to the welfare of humanity. Students’ innovation and hard work should contribute to the progress, security and prosperity of Bharat," Radhakrishnan said during his address.

Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar also spoke at the convocation ceremony. He encouraged the outgoing students to apply their knowledge and learning in the service of society, people, and the nation as they step into their professional lives.

During the event, SRMIST Vice-Chancellor C Muthamizhchelvan presented an overview of the institution’s progress over the past year, highlighting key milestones achieved in academics, research, innovation, and outreach initiatives.

Muthamizhchelvan also spoke about the institution’s upcoming electronic cooling centre, noting its significance for emerging technologies. He stated that as India scales AI compute, semiconductor packaging, and electric mobility, thermal management is becoming a critical foundation for sustainable growth, adding that every high-density chip and electric vehicle power module depends heavily on efficient cooling systems.
