BJP MLA Bhojarajan Questions Assembly Resolution On Delimitation In Chennai

In Chennai, Bharatiya Janata Party legislator Bhojarajan stated that his party saw no necessity for the special resolution on delimitation recently introduced by the Chief Minister in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. Addressing reporters in the city, the MLA asserted that political representation naturally needs to adapt to population changes across regions and called for unity among the people of the state rather than division.

Explaining his stance on electoral restructuring, Bhojarajan emphasized that changes in seat distribution are inevitable over time. He noted that political representation would ultimately have to be calculated based on population growth figures. To illustrate the intricate complexities already present in constituency mapping, he pointed out that the Nilgiris Lok Sabha constituency alone currently encompasses portions of four separate districts. Reaffirming this view, he said, "Change is the only permanent thing. We have to work according to the increase in population."

During his address to the press, Bhojarajan alleged that certain political entities were attempting to divide the populace of Tamil Nadu along north-south lines. He specifically took issue with recent commentary from political figures, including Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Vanniyarasu and minister Adhav Arunraj S. Referring to Vanniyarasu's statements on the subject, the BJP MLA said it was unacceptable to claim or imply that the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister would repeatedly alter their official positions on the delimitation issue.

Bhojarajan further shared that he had planned to voice his opposition to these arguments directly during the state Assembly proceedings, but was ultimately unable to raise the issue on the floor. Despite being unable to speak on the matter in the House, he stressed that unity among the state's citizens and various political parties remains essential.

Concluding his interaction with the media, the MLA highlighted the broader national potential of a cohesive state effort. Bhojarajan stated that if Tamil Nadu maintains solid internal unity, it would create realistic opportunities for a representative from Tamil Nadu or South India to ascend to the position of Prime Minister in the future.
