Autorickshaw Driver Kills Wife in Ambattur Over Suspicion of Instagram Affair

A 24-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband on a secluded stretch in Ambattur, Chennai, late Tuesday night after he suspected her of having an affair with a man she met through Instagram.

Police identified the deceased as Vaitheki, wife of 34-year-old Chinna, a resident of Indira Nagar in Menambedu. The couple, who had a love marriage, share three children—two daughters and a son.

Prior to the attack, Vaitheki had moved to her mother’s house in Thirumullaivoyal following a domestic quarrel. On Tuesday evening, Chinna went to persuade her to return home with him.

After speaking with Vaitheki for nearly two hours, Chinna asked her to drive his autorickshaw while he sat in the rear seat.

When they reached an isolated stretch in Ambattur, Chinna allegedly produced a concealed knife, slit her throat, and fled the spot.
