Auto Driver Slits Wife's Throat on Ambattur Road, Arrested in Chennai

A 24-year-old woman was killed in the Ambattur area of Chennai on Tuesday night after her husband allegedly slit her throat on a road following a domestic dispute. Police arrested the accused husband, identified as 34-year-old Chinna, around midnight.
The victim, Devaki, had been learning to drive an autorickshaw. Her husband, Chinna, worked as an autorickshaw driver and resided in Indira Nagar in Menambedu. The couple shared three children together, including two daughters and a son.
According to the police, the couple had frequent disputes regarding Devaki's interactions with male friends on Instagram. Following an argument, Devaki had moved out of their residence to stay at her mother's house in Thirumullaivoyal.
On Tuesday night, Chinna approached Devaki and persuaded her to return, telling her that they should reconcile for the sake of their three children. Devaki agreed and returned with him to their home in Indira Nagar.
After arriving at the house, the couple spoke for about two hours. Later, Chinna asked Devaki to drive the autorickshaw while he sat in the rear.
When they reached an isolated stretch of road, Chinna pulled out a knife he had concealed and slit her throat. Devaki collapsed on the road with severe bleeding. Police officers subsequently arrested Chinna around midnight.
