The Kanakammachatram police have initiated an investigation after the body of a 30-year-old autorickshaw driver was found dead in an agricultural well on Wednesday in Muthukondapuram, near Kanakammachatram in the Tiruvallur district. The victim had reportedly gone out to consume alcohol with two of his friends before he went missing.

The deceased man has been identified by the local police as Rajarathinam, who was a resident of Chinnammapettai near Thiruvalangadu. According to the police, Rajarathinam had travelled to Kanakammachatram on a motorcycle with his friends, identified as Nirmalkumar, aged 32, and Tamizhan, aged 31, in order to consume alcohol.

Following their drinking session, Nirmalkumar and Tamizhan returned to their respective homes. However, Rajarathinam did not return to his residence. When he failed to arrive home, his family members became worried and began searching for him across the area.

While the family was searching, the Kanakammachatram police received information that a man's body was floating in an agricultural well located in Muthukondapuram, which falls under their jurisdiction. The agricultural well is owned by a local resident named Gopi.

The body of the deceased autorickshaw driver was then sent to the Tiruvallur Government Medical College Hospital for a postmortem examination. The Kanakammachatram police have registered a case and are currently investigating the matter. Officers are working to determine whether Rajarathinam's death was a case of murder or if it was an accident.
