Arpita Rajput Appointed New Anna Nagar DCP in Major Police Reshuffle

Arpita Rajput has been posted as the new Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Anna Nagar within the Greater Chennai City Police, as part of a series of police transfers announced on August 13, 2026. Rajput takes over the Anna Nagar command after being shifted from her previous position in the Crime Branch CID (CB-CID).

She succeeds I. Eswaran, who previously served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police for Anna Nagar. Following his tenure in Anna Nagar, Eswaran has been shifted and posted as the Superintendent of Police (SP) for the Tamil Nadu Commando Force.

The changes in Anna Nagar are part of broader state-level reshuffles involving top Indian Police Service (IPS) officials and department heads across Tamil Nadu. Among the senior management changes, senior IPS officer and Director-General of Police (DGP) B. Bala Naga Devi has been posted as the DGP of Crime Branch CID (CB-CID). She was reassigned to the role after being shifted from her previous position in the Cyber Crime Wing.

Abhin Dinesh Modak, who was the present incumbent ADGP of CB-CID, has been shifted and posted as the Chief of the Cyber Crime Wing. In another senior posting, Vidya Jayant Kulkarni has been appointed as the ADGP of the Economic Offences Wing.

Several transfers were also executed in specialized intelligence units. M. Ramamurthy was transferred from his post as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Intelligence Section-I) and posted as the Superintendent of Police for the 'Q' Branch CID. He replaces B.K. Arvind, the present incumbent SP of 'Q' Branch CID, who has now been posted as SP-1 of the Special Branch CID.

In addition, S.R. Senthil Kumar has been posted as SP of the Coastal Security Group in Nagapattinam, while V. Saravanakumar has been posted as SP of the Anti-Terrorism Squad. D. Ramesh Babu has been posted as DCP, Headquarters, for Tirunelveli City.
