Anna Nagar Police Book DMK MP's Son and Councillor for Property Fraud

The Anna Nagar police have registered a case against the son of a North Chennai DMK Member of Parliament and a local councillor for their alleged involvement in property fraud, criminal intimidation, and caste-based abuse.
The FIR registered by the police names Siddharth, the son of DMK MP Kalanidhi Veeraswamy, as one of the key suspects. Siddharth is currently the managing director of a private company.
Along with Siddharth, the police have booked Rani Ravichandran, who serves as the DMK councillor for Ward 102 in Anna Nagar. The other two individuals named in the case are Asaithambi, who works as an assistant to the MP, and Adhinarayanan, a resident of the Virudhunagar district.
The legal action was initiated following a formal complaint lodged by 67-year-old Anbarasu, a resident hailing from the Karur district.
According to the complaint filed by Anbarasu, the accused individuals had obtained a Power of Attorney deed from him in connection with a property transaction. However, the complainant alleged that the accused subsequently failed to pay the agreed-upon consideration amount for the deal.
Anbarasu further stated in his complaint that he was subjected to criminal intimidation and caste-based verbal abuse during the course of the property dispute.
Police sources revealed that the dispute centers around a prime property comprising 14 grounds of land and an accompanying building located on Anna Salai. In his complaint, Anbarasu claimed that the property in question had been mortgaged with a bank and that he was actively deceived during the transaction.
Following the complaint, the Anna Nagar police booked the four accused under multiple legal provisions. These include Sections 3(1)(r), 3(1)(s), and 3(2)(va) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
In addition to the SC/ST Act, the accused have been charged under Section 420, which pertains to cheating, and Section 506(1), which relates to criminal intimidation, of the Indian Penal Code. Law enforcement authorities are continuing their investigation into the alleged land fraud.
