Amit Shah's Helicopter Diverted To Tambaram Air Force Station Due To Heavy Rain

Heavy rain on Sunday afternoon forced the diversion of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's helicopter to the Air Force Station at Tambaram after adverse weather prevented a scheduled landing at Chennai airport.

According to a statement from the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Mr. Shah was scheduled to arrive at the Chennai airport from Puducherry aboard an Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter at 3:26 p.m. However, due to adverse weather conditions, the helicopter carrying Mr. Shah and another accompanying helicopter could not land at the airport and were redirected to the Tambaram facility.

Following the diversion to Tambaram, police informed the AAI that Mr. Shah would travel to Chennai airport by road instead.

After reaching the airport by road, Mr. Shah departed for New Delhi aboard an IAF aircraft at 4:54 p.m.

An official statement noted that despite the sudden diversion of the helicopters, the subsequent road movement and his eventual departure from Chennai Airport were carried out smoothly.
