Amit Shah Slams Congress in Mamallapuram Over Vande Mataram Resolution

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the Congress party during an interaction in Mamallapuram, labelling its decision to restrict the singing of Vande Mataram to just two stanzas as "anti-national."

Speaking to the ANI news agency on the sidelines of the South Zone Chief Ministers’ Conference held in Mamallapuram, Shah responded directly to a recent Congress Working Committee resolution concerning the national song. He accused the opposition party of reviving its decades-old "politics of appeasement" through the decision.

Shah alleged that the Congress had historically split Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s national song in 1937 for Muslim appeasement. According to the Home Minister, that historical division effectively laid the groundwork for the partition of India.

Contrasting the Congress party's position with that of the central government, Shah highlighted that the Narendra Modi administration had legally framed and restored the full version of Vande Mataram in an effort to strengthen national unity across the country.

Targeting the leadership of the opposition, Shah expressed surprise that Rahul Gandhi was driving what he termed the revival of appeasement politics. He cautioned that India had already paid a heavy historical price for dividing the national song in the past.

Calling on the nation to unite against the Congress resolution, Shah asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party strongly condemned the move to limit the singing of the national song.
