AIADMK to Hold District-Wise Review Meetings for Anna Labour Union

The AIADMK has announced that it will conduct a series of district-wise review meetings for its labour wing, the Anna Labour Union, and its allied associations in Chennai and other districts. The meetings are scheduled to run from June 29 to July 20.
The newly appointed secretary of the union, R Tamilarasan, will chair the meetings. The sessions will focus on discussing action plans and development activities to revamp and strengthen the party's labour wing.
The restructuring drive aims to arrest the erosion of the union's worker base. The Anna Labour Union includes key units operating within the state transport and civil supplies sectors.
The initiative follows the recent exit of the former secretary, R Kamalakannan, who defected to Chief Minister C Vijay Joseph’s TVK. Kamalakannan’s defection led to several Anna Labour Union members leaving the AIADMK along with him, which weakened the party's labour wing.
Following instructions from AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, the party has directed its district-level functionaries to make all the necessary arrangements for the upcoming meetings. Union members have also been directed to attend the scheduled sessions and actively share their views to help rebuild the organization.
